Dr. Johnathan Chance Miller, MD
Physician, medical cannabis evaluations
Dr. Miller evaluates Oklahoma patients for medical marijuana recommendations by secure video or phone. He focuses on a careful history, an honest look at risks and interactions, and practical guidance patients can actually use.
About Dr. Miller
Dr. Johnathan Chance Miller earned his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2018, then completed two years of residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the Washington University/Barnes-Jewish/St. Louis Children's Hospital consortium. That surgical training gave him extensive experience with the musculoskeletal and nerve pain that brings many Oklahomans to medical cannabis today.
Since 2018 he has cared for patients through telehealth, helping adults with chronic and hard-to-treat symptoms evaluate whether medical cannabis is a reasonable part of their care. Before medicine, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Spanish.
His approach to cannabis evaluations
Dr. Miller treats a cannabis evaluation like any other treatment decision. He wants to know how your symptoms affect your sleep, work and daily life, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping to change. He reviews every medication for interactions, and he's direct about situations where cannabis is a poor fit, such as pregnancy, a history of psychosis, or a job with federal drug testing.
For patients he approves, he explains how different product types work, how long they take to act, and how to start low and increase slowly. He also encourages patients to keep their primary care doctor informed.
